The Maine Cardigan

Pattern: Must Have Cardigan.

Yarn: Bartlett Yarns Fisherman 2-ply, in Spice Heather, bought in New Harbor, ME.

Needles: Size #5.

Comments and Changes: The pattern seems awfully complex but it really isn't! I actually had it memorized right by the end of the back. The only changes I made were shorter sleeves and no moss stitch on the underarms due to fear of being too bulky. Ah and yes, I knitted it all in size #5 needles, not #6 and #7. Even though the yarn seems rough in the beginning, I love the smell of the oils and most of all, it gives a fantastic stitch definition. It softened immensely after it was soaked and it blocked beautifully. I also love the cedar buttons, by Pack River Buttonworks, that I bought at Stix. After all the adventures, the final result is fantastic. It's the warmest cardigan I have, and I thought I was going to burst I was so proud of myself when I put it on the first time!

Claudia, this is absolutely stunning! The pictures themselves are so well-done, that they really show off the beautiful sweater. A great fit, and so flattering. I love it! I am sure you will wear it all of the time - you should!

Your Must Have Cardigan is phenomenal! I still feel that same "burst of pride" you mentioned everytime that I wear mine...by far my favorite sweater!

Beautiful! I am incredibly impressed with your knitting and wish I could handle such a pattern. (Even with charts, I haven't mastered the fisherman knit.)

Congratulations. The yarn looks like the pattern was designed with it in mind. You deserve to be proud of yourself!

Wow! I didn't know people actually lived in places that look like that, awesome! The cardi goes very well with the beach environment. =)
